Flagstaff Hobbies is excited to offer another year of outdoor R/C Car Racing for the 2018 summer season! Our events are great fun for the whole family with plenty of racing for drivers of all skill levels. We support a wide variety of classes for 1/10 scale electric cars and trucks, from paved oval and road course to off-road.

For 2018, we'll be able to continue our every-other-Sunday race schedule format and still manage to skip over most of the summer holiday weekends (except for Father’s Day in June). We are also continuing with our popular “4th of July weekend” Open Track Day. Our season opener is Sunday, May 6th and we'll be racing until the end of October (full schedule below). Mark your calendars so you don't miss out on any races!

As always, we will be hosting a Points Championship. This summer’s Points Series will be an 8-race championship (June-September) with 2 drops allowed - fingers crossed the 2018 monsoon season is kind to us. The first points paying race day, June 3rd, will have our traditional annual Prize Concourse (our pretty body contest), and the final points race day, September 23rd, will have a trophy ceremony, raffle prizes, and a pot-luck banquet! Championship points will be awarded to most classes listed under our Rules link below, but that may change depending on participation.

Per tradition, we'll be closing the 2018 Race Season out with our Fifth Annual 6-Hour M-Chassis Endurance Event. This is an awesome team event with pit stops, driver changes, and the same car that starts the race has to be the one that finishes! Last year's race was an even more incredible race than 2017, with first and second place finishing only 2.8 seconds apart after 6 hours of racing and wrenching. There is no other event like it in the entire State of Arizona, so don't miss out!

Lastly, we’ll be hosting TWO Open Track days in 2018 as "test and tune" days. We tried this for the first time a few season ago and everyone appreciates the extra track time without the pressure of it being a "Race Day." On May 20th and July 1st we will set up the track as an Open Practice Day where drivers will have time to tune their racecars and then test those changes with a few laps on track. Our Season Opener on May 6th, however, will be run in our usual "Race Day" format of two qualifiers and a Main race. It's a low pressure opportunity for new racers can get an idea of how our Championship Race Format will work, and for the rest of us to shake the rust off.

We’re excited for another season of competition, so see you at the races!
- Christine and Cliff
