RACING SEASON

RULES, CALENDAR, AND POINT STANDINGS

Flagstaff Hobbies is excited to offer another year of outdoor R/C Car Racing for the 2017 summer season! Our events are great fun for the whole family with plenty of racing for drivers of all skill levels. We support a wide variety of classes for 1/10 scale electric cars and trucks, from paved oval and road course to off-road.

For 2017, we'll be able to return to our every-other-Sunday race schedule format. Our season opener is Sunday, May 7th and we'll be racing until the end of October (full schedule below). With this schedule, we manage to skip over most major holiday weekends throughout the summer (except for Father's Day in June and a Track Day over the Indepence Day weekend in July). Mark your calendars so you don't miss out on any races!

As always, we will be hosting a Points Championship. This summer’s Points Series will be an 8-race championship (June-September) with 2 drops allowed - fingers crossed the 2017 monsoon season is kind to us. The first points paying race day, June 4th, will have our annual Prize Concourse (which could be an "ugly body contest" for a change, so stay tuned), and the final points race day, September 24th, will have a trophy ceremony, raffle prizes, and a pot-luck banquet! Championship points will be awarded to most classes listed under our Rules link below.

Per tradition, we'll be closing the 2017 Race Season out with our Fourth Annual 6-Hour Mini Endurance Event. This is an awesome team event with pit stops, driver changes, and the same car that starts the race has to be the one that finishes! Last year's race was a nail biter with the top two teams only finishing 6 Laps apart after 6 Hours of racing and wrenching. There is no other event like it in the entire State of Arizona, so don't miss out!

Lastly, we’ll be hosting TWO Open Track days in 2017 as "test and tune" days. We tried this for the first time last race season and everyone appreciated the extra track time without the pressure of it being a "Race Day." On May 21st and July 2nd we will set up the track as an Open Practice Day where drivers will have time to tune their race cars and then test those changes with a few laps on track. Our Season Opener on May 7th, however, will be run in our usual "Race Day" format of two qualifiers and a Main race. It's a low pressure opportunity for new racers can get an idea as to how our Championship Race Format will work, and for the rest of us to shake the rust off.

We’re excited for another season of competition, so see you at the races!
- Christine and Cliff
